The Mysterious Tall Bike

I was sitting on the porch the other night when two guys rode by on tall bikes and piqued my interest. Ever since then, I've been plagued with questions of how someone mounts and dismounts or stops on one of these bikes. I spent some time on YouTube and Wikipedia the other night educating myself about the tall bike and was able to figure out the mount and dismount, but still no A's to my Q's about the stop. Does anyone know how people who ride tall bikes stop at stop lights? Do they look for a pole? Do they just avoid stopping altogether? I need answers so I can sleep at night.

lol at this post. I had never seen these bikes before we moved to Chicago and I too am perplexed by them. We have seen a few riding down busy streets by our house and from what I can tell, they avoid stopping altogether. I think that they kind of slow down when they see a read light and then so they don't have to stop before it turns green. But that might just be the one guy I saw. They seem like way too much work to me, but kind of fun too.

It was so fun talking to you last night. It made me miss you,

it's another one of those mysteries like those big wheel scooters in Utah (you know the ones people stand on and they just go)

So I saw another one on my way home from work today and I stopped in my tracks just watching to see what happened when it was time to stop. But the guy kept getting green lights with no need to stop and then my vision failed when he got to the next red light. He was too far away to see. But now I really want to know what happens.

Lindsay, I totally say this guy today in Sugar House...we were driving past him and I was explaining to my husband that nobody knows how they stop...and I forgot to notice how he was going to stop. He had a red light and everything, but we missed it because I was chatting away.

Darn him! I'm just gonna start cruising the streets so I can solve the mystery!
