Strictly Business

Today I was working with a first grader and our conversation went a little something like this:

Me: So what did you do over spring break?
1st grader: Business.
Me: What kind of business ? (in my most caring, intrigued, counselor voice)
1st grader: You know, going to Sev for soda.

You'll have to excuse me, I've got some business to do.

Is it weird...

that I hand write term papers and then type them? (when I say I have to write a paper, I literally mean write)

that I still prefer Kraft mac 'n cheese to most meals?

that I'll drive to Bajio just to get a cup of ice?

that no matter how tired I am or how early I have to get up, I won't go to sleep before midnight?

that I only ate yellow food for a few years as a child (I could probably still live on this diet)?

that I can't stand to walk on pavement with barefeet?

that I LOVE tomatos, but won't eat tomato suace?

that one of my dearest friends is 94?

that I prefer hand-written letters to email?

that I think I was born in the wrong decade?

Just checkin'.

Thank You Easter Bunny

Thanks to this (found via Becca's blog) I now know that I need to mow the lawn for 228 minutes, spend 139 minutes on the elliptical trainer, knit for 838 minutes, stand quietly for 1048 minutes (stand quietly? Really cyberdiet.com? Standing counts as "activity"?), or rollerblade for 179 minutes to compensate for the amount of Easter candy I consumed yesterday. I better get knitting.

Welcome to the House of Dereon

A few weeks ago, my friend Rachelle turned 23 on the 23rd, so naturally we threw a gold themed birthday party. The day before the party I was stressed about what I was going to wear to woo all of the potential SLC suitors. I scoured every Forever 21, TJ Maxx, and Charlotte Russe in search of the perfect outfit, but to no avail. Just as I was about to give up, I drove by the Ross in American Fork and decided to stop in. I walked in and quickly scanned the merchandise for anything gold. I was losing hope as I neared the back of the store and that's when I spotted It. It was exactly what I'd been searching for all along. How did Beyonce's mom know that I needed a gold sequined cheetah print jacket?! You see, a few years back Beyonce's mom thought it would be a good idea to unleash her hideous fashion sense on the world in the form of House of Dereon, and boy am I glad. I glanced at the price tag and thought, "Only $15 for this beauty?!" It was mine. Never in my life have I been so satisfied with a clothing purchase. The next night I wore my new piece of pride to the party and learned that you can do whatever you want when you're wearing gold sequined cheetah print and no one asks questions. Every morning since then I've contemplated wearing It.

For the love of Dereon
